Persistent Surveillance: Processing and Exploitation Systems
Posted: 1/28/2008

Logos is actively seeking system designers and software systems developers with signal/image processing, computer vision and/or remote sensing experience to build persistent surveillance (PS) processing and exploitation systems for the defense and intelligence communities.

PS sensors are very wide field of view airborne imaging systems (visible, color, spectral, or infrared) that capture medium resolution (0.5-1 m ground sampling distance) imagery at temporal rates of 0.5-2 Hz.  This PS data is data is then processed and exploited to support military operations by providing very detailed information about vehicular and human activity.  Urban surveillance is the most challenging PS exploitation task.  Large numbers of vehicles must be tracked through changing illumination conditions and occlusions, and unusual patterns of activity must be detected.

Logos seeks candidates with image processing, computer vision, and/or remote sensing system design and algorithm development experience (for panchromatic, color, spectral or infrared data) in areas such as: advanced motion imagery compression techniques; multi-image registration and motion stabilization; invariant feature extraction and matching; vehicle detection and tracking; object-feature based and track-based fusion; activity modeling and recognition, and other related skills.  These PS processing systems will be implemented as embedded airborne processing systems or as part of ground-based PS exploitation environments.

Logos is seeking multiple candidates at various experience levels:

  • Senior Scientists and Engineers to lead research, development, test and evaluation of advanced PS processing and exploitation systems.  Candidates should have a PhD and extensive R&D experience (5-8+ yrs) in areas related to PS exploitation.

  • Scientists and engineers who can lead and contribute to the design and development of advanced PS processing and exploitation systems.  Candidates should have a BS or MS and 3-5+ years of proven design/implementation experience in areas related to PS exploitation.

  • Advanced Algorithm Developers who have designed and developed advanced algorithms for image processing, computer vision or remote sensing applications.  Candidates should have a BS or MS and 1-2 years of proven design/implementation experience in areas related to PS exploitation.

Experience with requirements-driven software engineering processes is desirable.  Relevant technologies include: Java, C/C++, IDL, Matlab, GIS programming (ESRI MOJE).

US Citizenship required
Active security clearance highly desirable; TS/SCI preferred

Opportunities available in the Washington, DC; Raleigh, NC; and San Francisco Bay areas
